
This large moth is common aroud Eastern Australia and are attracted to street lights. The Emperor Gum Moth is called that because it is big and it eats gum leaves. It has four eye spots on its wings. Its wingspan can be up to 15cm.
Food: gum leaves
Habitat: Forests and woodlands.
Predators: birds, small mammals
Life Cycle:
The moth lays it eggs on a eucalyptus leaf.
Soon the eggs will hatch.
Then the caterpillar eats the leaf.
Then the caterpillars' skin comes off. When they get
older, they wrap themselves in silk to form a cocoon. In summer, the caterpillar comes out and it is a moth.
