Praying Mantis

DESCRIPTION:

A Praying Mantis has two front legs to grab its prey and four other legs too. The praying mantis moves its head freely to watch for prey. When an insect strays close, the mantis' two front legs lash out with lightning speed to grab the victim. Rows of sharp spikes on the under side of its legs hold the victim firmly. The mantis eats its pray alive, piece by piece.

Birds eat the praying mantis and bird spiders.
